Aldosterone Inhibitors
Spironolactone is available in both marque (Aldactone®; Pfizer) and ware products in 25, 50, and 100 mg pill strengths. There is no commercially-available oral consonant homework, but several extemporaneous formulations have been developed.
The recommended dose of spironolactone in infants and children is 1 to 4 mg/kg/day administered as a 1 dose or in two divided doses.
Some references list a dose of 3.3 mg/kg/day, based on changeover of an older characteristic of 1.5 mg/lb/day.
In adults, therapy is initiated at 50 to 100 mg/day and titrated up to 400 mg/day as needed.
Although some sources recommend twice daily dosing, this regimen does not appear to provide additional payment over once daily dosing.
In a doubleblind, cross-over acquisition of 13 adults, spironolactone produced effective liquid body substance atmospheric pressure body process and diuresis whether given once or twice daily.
Eplerenone (Inspra®; Pfizer) is available as 25, 50, and 100 mg tablets.
